Comm'n for Lawyer Discipline v. A Texas Attorney

The Commission for Lawyer Discipline appeals the dismissal of a grievance against a Texas attorney by the State Bar of Texas District 1 Grievance Committee on October 15, 2014, Cause No. 201301240. The attorney refused to obtain a final judgment for his client in a child custody case for almost two years after the final custody hearing.  The commission appealed a take-nothing judgment issued by the District 1 grievance committee of the State Bar of Texas.  The Board reversed, finding that, based on the attorney's own testimony at the evideniary hearing, the only reason he did not complete the work for 20 months was because he believed that the client owed him money; a violation of Tex. Disciplinary Rules Prof'l Conduct R. 1.01(b)(1). The Board rendered a judgment of private reprimand. BODA case 55619.
