In the Matter of Jim Hughes

On April 16, 1996 the Board of Disciplinary Appeals disbarred Rockport TX attorney Jim D. Hughes, State Bar of Texas Card no. 10219000. On November 5, 1992, Hughes pled guilty in Case Number 3:92-CR-216-H styled, United States of America v. Jim D. Hughes, United States District Court, Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, to conspiracy to defraud the United States by impeding, impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful government functions of the Internal Revenue Service of the Treasury Department in the ascertainment, computation, assessment, and collection of the revenue: to wit, income taxes in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371 and to commit certain offenses against the United States. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison. BODA case no. 02793.
